CHARLOTTE, N.C.– The Carolina Fintech Hub (CFH) and payCLT are coming together to create the CFH Payments Initiative, a move focused on continuing to build the Carolinas as a premier payments center of excellence. Their mission is to facilitate the success of CFH members through education, collaboration, and professional advocacy. The CFH Payments Initiative will contribute to the business growth within the Carolina community by leveraging its base of payment professionals to create greater awareness, support higher education, and attract payments-focused businesses and entrepreneurs. payCLT will enable CFH’s members to network with Charlotte’s payment experts, learn about payment products and services, discuss payments industry trends and share best-in-class strategies. This structure allows payCLT to continue its focus on increasing engagement within the payments community while expanding its reach as a key vertical within the larger organization of CFH. This partnership will lead to more opportunities for payments professionals and further augment the vibrant business community of financial services technology, or “fintech”. By establishing this unified fintech entity, CFH now has collaboration across every aspect of fintech in the Carolinas–city government, the Charlotte Chamber, payments and entrepreneurial communities, and local academic institutions. Tariq Bokhari, Carolina Fintech Hub’s Executive Director, shares his enthusiasm for the decision, stating “we are very excited for the Carolina Fintech Hub to more formally expand into the payments vertical, and payCLT is the gold standard of leadership in our payments community. In the coming months the Carolina region can expect the great programming they have come to know from payCLT to continue, as well as some new opportunities surrounding Fintech talent and innovation.” Philip Sprague, Founder of payCLT, agrees. “Since its establishment 5+years ago, payCLT’s mission has been to bring together the deep pool of payments talent in charlotte and ‘connect the dots’ to support the community. As an established cross-industry group of individuals, building partnerships with other communities to promote education, entrepreneurship, and new business growth has been a significant focus of the payCLT team. This new partnership with CFH allows payCLT to continue its great work to provide industry expertise and education on a broader scale.” Scott Harkey, CFH Payments co-lead, adds “as a long-time payCLT member, I have seen first hand the value the organization has brought to the Charlotte payments community. Likewise, having seen the growth of CFH from an idea of a few people to its current state, it’s become very clear how aligned the two organizations are. It’s exciting to see the CFH mission of bringing together financial technology professionals across the Carolinas come to fruition as payCLT joins the organization and enhances our Payments workstream. For payCLT, this partnerships presents a much broader stage for all the great work the organization consistently contributes to the Charlotte Payments community.” ### About Carolina Fintech Hub Carolina Fintech Hub is a nonprofit partnership of leading financial services firms, fintech companies, universities and government working to fuel the future growth and success of emerging financial technologies.
